What equipment is required for my child to play soccer?
Soccer is a sport that requires very little equipment. Your child will need cleats, shin guards, a soccer ball, and a water bottle. A mouth guard is a good idea at older age levels, but few players actually wear them. Shin guards which have an ankle guard (pads on the ankle bone) should be long enough to come within a couple inches of the bottom of the knee. Shin guards are worn under the socks. The size of the soccer ball depends on your child’s age. Soccer shirts will be provided by our village at no cost to each player.

What Size Ball Should My Child Be Using?
4 - 7 Years Old (U4-U8): Size 3; 8-12 Years Old (U9-U12): Size 4; 13 Years and Older (U13-U18): Size 5

It is recommended that every child has his/her own soccer ball, properly inflated, with their name written on it in permanent marker. While we will have some balls at the field, it is very important that your child have their own ball to practice with at the field and at home.

Finally, it is encouraged, and highly appreciated, that parents play an active role when asked during practices to assist in keeping activities flowing smoothly.

Every effort will be used to field all boys and all girls teams. If that is not possible due to not enough boys or girls signing up, then players will be combined to have a co-ed team for that age group. Our recreation program tries to place everyone on a team to play.
